Development
This week was quite a step forward, me and Hannah, who are good friends and also share a very similar creative style, concepts and sense of humour have decided to collaborate with eachother which is incredibly exciting and I think as a duo we will work well together and be able to motivate one another throughout the year. We also had our second collaboration preparation lecture with Helen and a guest called Gabriella Ditton who is a former Animation Student who had some really cool and clever advice for us as final years and soon to be graduates. Me and Hannah came up with some rough concepts and Ideas which we need to work on alot but was a nice starting point for the both of us and an exciting journey for us to go on.
Strengths
Working with a partner I get on with and who i see as someone with the skills, personality and simlarities to myself is a really great opportunity for us both to excel within this project and bring out all of our creativity and ideas knowing that someone else is going to be working alongside you to achieve the same goal.

Areas to Develop
So now that me and Hannah are set to work with eachother, we now need to organise ourselves around this project, meaning coming up with a more finalised idea, what sort of animation 2D style will suit the both of us and so on.

More Inspiration

Now that we have a fixed idea of exploring the concept of our main male character leaving one world and entering another world which is the complete opposite mean’t we had more scope and understanding when it came to finding some more inspiration.

For me, I know alot of my ideas and designs come from games and animations I have previously come across, some of my inspirations and ideas that are forming are linked to the videos below:

‘Made in Abyss’ is an anime adapted from a rather unknown manga which has rocketed in popularity since it’s release, although I am yet to watch all of it, the concept and designs are stunning and link to me and Hannah’s ideas. Made in Abyss centres around an isolated town with an Abyss going straight through the centre. Within is a world of danger, creatures and dark secrets, the main protagonists are a young male and female who wish to enter the Abyss knowing that they won’t be able to return to the world above.

Little Nightmares is an incredible Indie game which I have loved watching grow and develop. I haven’t personally played this game but I have watched the entirety of the gameplay online and was absolutely amazed by the narrative and concept designs. I think this will serve as a huge inspiration for me and Hannah when design the darker world.

Collaboration Concept Inspiration

Below is a view of the animations that are a part of a Japanese collective animation series called ‘Genius Party’. Genius Party contains short animations by small animation  companies or individuals with some incredibly fresh content as well as compelling storylines and beautiful animation. I’ve known about Genius Party for a while and now that we have been given the chance to create something all of our own I’m really excited to gather as much inspiration as possible.

Collaboration Group

This week I spoke to Hannah and we both decided we were happy to collaborate together, Me and Hannah have worked together before as well as being good friends so this seemed to be an exciting opportunity for the both of us. When in the lecture with Helen we started to consider all the possible ways we could take the project, we knew we wanted to create a linear story but we weren’t sure on what theme exactly.
We came up with a list of inspirations for the both of us to go and explore, we communicated via facebook messenger as it was easiest to send youtube links and images.

Although there is only two of us I already know we will be able to communicate our ideas to each other clearly and work just as hard as any bigger groups.
