Animation Colouring Process

Below I have begun colour each frame by following my finalised design of my character with the selected colour script, I have also chosen to add shading because although this mean’t that I had spent alot more time on each frame, i would have the desired outcome in regards to how I would of wanted the entire fable to look.

After exporting the scenes as PNG sequences I would then open one up at a time in Paint Tool Sai and begin the colouring process. Once each frame has been coloured and shaded I would then save each layer as a PNG before importing them back into TVPAINT and exporting the file as an animation with no background.

Final Animation Character Designs

I began to branch out and start designing more of our characters for the ‘Under World’ as I felt now that I had conducted research into the historical contexts that I wanted to reflect in my piece my characters would now have substance. Certain characters have been redrawn from Hannah’s ideas as I wanted to have a collective sheet of all our characters before I start to figure out our storyboard. Quite a few of our designs have changed as we’ve axed a few characters as they no longer worked in our new concept.

‘The Mother’ and ‘Mutation’ are characters redrawn the same from Hannah’s character designs.

We wanted our characters to represent ‘Human Horrors’ that have taken place in the real world.

I have also chosen to redesign the main character for our animation, I felt perhaps he wasn’t so unique beforehand so I wanted to try something different. I’ve still kept the flower light as me and Hannah loved that Idea but I have changed the hat and the outfit slightly.  I’ve also changed my drawing style as me and Hannah are now pulling towards the slightly more sketchy look rather than clean cut.

I like how the hat has eyes and the way in which the hair is styled almost looks like the hats teeth.
