Background Work- Temple

Here are some of my background developments for the second scene in my fable, I’ve decided I want to render the beginning of my animation and so I’m continuing to advance any more backgrounds I need to get done for the seconds of animation. I used the same techniques as before, for example when creating the building I would make sure to make solid rectangular shapes for the most part and deform them and shade them. I created the majority of this background piece within Paint Tool Sai before developing it further in Paintstorm with foliage and grass.

Google: Further Research into Historical events, specifically ones related to worry and human suffering.

Development
This week after researching more into historical contexts, iconic moments, and human suffering we started to finalise some of our ideas and character designs. We want to represent through an abstract and quite brave and disturbing concept through the use of animation which highlights real-life situations and horrors humans have had to undergo. We by no means want this to be tacky or disrespectful, but of a personal creative way to reflect and have the audience thinking and question what we are showing them. It’s mean’t to be hard to watch, but also entertaining, this is how we have decided to get our audiences attention and address something that is very much a part of every human beings history.
Strengths
This idea has come along way from the beginning and it’s a topic and subject area that we both want to explore through the use of animation. Both our character designs have come along way and are ready to be put into the storyboard.
Areas to Develop
Next week I will begin to map out and create a synopsis and scene directions that will work as the backbone for the storyboards and will hopefully be detailed enough that it’s clear for both myself and Hannah to understand and work from.

Youtube: Sourced noncopyrighted music and sound effects to use within my fable animation
Development
This week I’ve developed my animatic so that it now has sound,I am very pleased with the sound featuring background noises and music which fits my ethos and charm desired for this animation. I’ve also recorded the gasp which is a quite an integral piece in regards to sound design and overall I am very pleased with the outcome. I’ve also continued to add to my keyframe animations and start to outline and perfect some of the movements and scenes. I think having looked at my animatic as a whole I really want the opening to be the rendered part. I know that there are actions such as the spirits and the girl which are quite dynamic and interesting to look at but I love the idea of getting the initial beginning part of the animation with her yawning fully rendered and the gasp scene.
Strengths
As I now have quite a few background parts to play with and have decided on an area of the animation to focus on as my 10 seconds I’m feeling confident in my work. I’m hoping that after I have composited everything into After Effects I can create a visually strong animated piece and story.
Areas for Development
I need to start colouring in each of my scenes, it’s going to take me a while as colouring always does, as well as starting to composite my selected scenes together on After Effects.

Child Soldiers

https://www.hrw.org/topic/childrens-rights/child-soldiers

Thousands of children are serving as soldiers in armed conflicts around the world. These boys and girls, some as young as 8 years old, serve in government forces and armed opposition groups. They may fight on the front lines, participate in suicide missions, and act as spies, messengers, or lookouts. Girls may be forced into sexual slavery. Many are abducted or recruited by force, while others join out of desperation, believing that armed groups offer their best chance for survival. We are working to prevent the use of child soldiers and to hold accountable the people who send children to fight.
