Background Work- Temple

Here are some of my background developments for the second scene in my fable, I’ve decided I want to render the beginning of my animation and so I’m continuing to advance any more backgrounds I need to get done for the seconds of animation. I used the same techniques as before, for example when creating the building I would make sure to make solid rectangular shapes for the most part and deform them and shade them. I created the majority of this background piece within Paint Tool Sai before developing it further in Paintstorm with foliage and grass.

Development
This week I’ve developed my animatic so that it now has sound,I am very pleased with the sound featuring background noises and music which fits my ethos and charm desired for this animation. I’ve also recorded the gasp which is a quite an integral piece in regards to sound design and overall I am very pleased with the outcome. I’ve also continued to add to my keyframe animations and start to outline and perfect some of the movements and scenes. I think having looked at my animatic as a whole I really want the opening to be the rendered part. I know that there are actions such as the spirits and the girl which are quite dynamic and interesting to look at but I love the idea of getting the initial beginning part of the animation with her yawning fully rendered and the gasp scene.
Strengths
As I now have quite a few background parts to play with and have decided on an area of the animation to focus on as my 10 seconds I’m feeling confident in my work. I’m hoping that after I have composited everything into After Effects I can create a visually strong animated piece and story.
Areas for Development
I need to start colouring in each of my scenes, it’s going to take me a while as colouring always does, as well as starting to composite my selected scenes together on After Effects.

Final Animatic with Sound

Below  is my final animatic with sound design added, I’m rather happy with this version although I know I need to tweak certain bits like playing around with the audio volume and perhaps moving the music around until I like how it opens and closes on the animation. I do still need to create a title and a credits scene which I will hopefully get on with doing next week.

One of my favourite parts of this is the third scene where the music and noises work to be suggestive of what is going on within the characters mind. For example, noises of Tokyo city reflects that of a past memory very unlike the world the protagonist finds herself living in currently. I wanted to create an emotive response so having her gasp displays the fact the character was so deep inside this memory it was a shock to wake up and realise she wasn’t there anymore.

I played around with the clip of tokyo noises for a while until I found the piece with a siren going past which I thought would work really rather well.
